The New poll reveals how food delivery services changing our lifestyle and the quarantine hotels awareness

According to the poll conducted by the Research, Development and Evaluation Commission, Taipei City Government, among 1,221 respondents, 60% are working from Monday to Friday and 34% have no jobs.  In general, lunch is the most popular eating-out-meal (64%), followed by breakfast (56%) and dinner (48%).  Further cross-analysis also found that males who eat out for all three meals daily are 9 to 14 percent higher than females.
In addition, the interviewees were also asked about their social life and travel arrangements.  Overall, of the 1,221 respondents, around half of them (51%) had family gatherings in the past month, sixty percent of them went shopping regularly.  As for travel arrangements, most of the interviewees had two domestic trips (19%) and one international trip (25%) in the past year.  However, due to the pandemic, 62% of the interviewees reduced their shopping frequency and 53% reconsidered their domestic travel plans in the past month.

Thirty-two percent of the 1,221 respondents have used food delivery service.  When asked about the reasons for using food delivery services with multiple selections, the first reason (80%) is too lazy to go out to eat or buy.  For the most used food delivery platforms, with multiple selections, the most popular provider is UberEats with 78%, followed by Foodpanda with 66%.

[COVID-19 Quarantine Hotels Awareness]
Eighty-two percent of the 1,221 respondents know that Taipei City has quarantine hotels.  When further asked if the information of these hotels should be disclosed, 60% interviewees support for total transparency but 29% don't support it because of worrying about causing panic.  From the perspective of respecting the participating hotels’ decision and encouraging transparency, as of April 28, 2020, there are 22 quarantine hotels in Taipei with 19 information disclosed ones.

[Statistical Method and Data Analysis]
The poll is conducted via telephone interviews in the evenings of March 23-26, 2020 with  1,221 persons successfully interviewed, living in Taipei and aged 18 or older . The telephone numbers are randomly selected from the residential numbers in Taipei City. The margin of sampling error is ±2.80% with 95% confidence level.
