Safety City, You and Me Enjoy The Community Disaster Preparedness Carnival

The 2nd District HQ of the Taipei City Fire Department collaborates with the Mustard Seed Mission to organize a “Safety City Carnival” on September 24th (Sunday) from 1:00 PM to 5:30 PM at Taipei City Hall Square (No. 1, Shifu Road, Xinyi District, Taipei City). This event incorporates various disaster prevention awareness booths, aiming to deepen the public's awareness of disaster prevention while enjoying exciting activities. We warmly welcome all citizens to participate.

According to recent fire data compiled by the Fire Department, residential buildings have the highest occurrence rate of fires, with cooking accidents being the most common causes. To emphasize the importance of social disaster prevention awareness, the event aims to popularize the education of disaster prevention through the collaboration between the fire department and local communities. Additionally, the "Video 119 App" is indispensable for outdoor activities, allowing the Fire Department to locate the position of the disaster scene and assess the situation through video. Therefore, this Application is a valuable tool for assisting others and oneself. Moreover, "First on Scene App" recruits volunteers who have skills in CPR. When the Fire Department receives and confirms OHCA cases, it notifies nearby volunteers through the App, enabling them to implement CPR or AED as early as possible before the ambulance arrives. The "Taipei City Disaster Prevention App" allows citizens to instantly access information on typhoons, earthquakes, weather radar, rainfall, and water conditions, serving as a valuable reference for outdoor activities.

The activities in this event include “Smoke Exposure Simulations”, “Smoke Alarm Promotion”, “The promotion of the Video 119 App and Taipei City Disaster Prevention App”, and “Earthquake experience vehicle”. Through educational materials prepared by the Fire Department, expert explanations, and hands-on experiences, participants can learn about various disaster prevention and disaster response at a close distance. We believe that citizens who participate in the event will gain valuable insights, and we enthusiastically welcome everyone to join us in this event.

In addition, the Fire Department reminds everyone to follow safety precautions when using fire and electricity:

1.    In the kitchen, always put the "Turn off the heat when you leave" concept into action and develop the routine of immediately turning off the gas stove after use.

2.    Prevent electrical fires by following the "Five Don'ts and One No":

    Don't overload circuits.

Don't leave plugs inserted when not in use.

    Don't bundle electrical wires.

Don't store flammable materials near electrical sources.

    Don't damage plugs.

Don't buy or use products without safety certification marks.
