I signed up a monthly membership of a gym. How come the gym charged me a penalty when I terminated the membership?
I would ask you to view your contract thoroughly. There is a type of monthly membership that requires consumers to pay certain amount of monthly fee for a certain period of time. If the contract between you and your gym is the period determined monthly membership, you do need to pay for a penalty charge if you terminate the membership before the end of the contract.
