Exercise has gotten more and more popular in recent years, and for dads of any age, exercise is the best way to maintain physical health. For the weekend of August 8th, Father’s Day, to August 9th, Taipei City Government’s Department of Sports is holding the Crazy Summer — Give Dad the Healthiest Gift event. This event will give busy fathers a chance to experience holiday recreation at Dajia Riverside Park, with kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, water biking, and rubber rafting. There will also be a chance for dads to try their luck in a prize drawing, with prizes including exercise sun visors, sun-protection neck gaiters, and gift certificates.
Commissioner Li Tzai-Li of the Taipei City Government Department of Sports today (August 8th) came to the activity in person to experience the fun with the dads in attendance. The water biking that was introduced in the latter part of last year, and which won so much praise, was this year made a regular weekly occurrence. This year, the rafting activity was also added; groups of friends are invited to register together. The Department of Sports hopes that this makes it possible for citizens and friends to experience an even wider array of water activities. Members of the public who have joined in have stated that, with the international pandemic situation still quite grim, it is extraordinarily meaningful that families are able to gather together on Father’s Day, experience water activities, and appreciate the joys of family.
In addition to the Father’s Day activities, Taipei’s Crazy Summer water activities will continue every Saturday and Sunday until September 13th, from 9am to 4:30pm.
